The Mexican Grand Prix resumed its normal course on lap seven, after the safety car left the track. Max Verstappen was in first place in his Red Bull, followed by Carlos Sainz of Ferrari, Lando Norris of McLaren and the other Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc.
