A nightclub in west London, Ricco Lounge, is under scrutiny following a violent incident that coincided with a routine safety inspection. On October 13, during a visit from a health and safety officer, David Nevitte, gunfire erupted outside the venue in Kensington. During his inspection for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), Nevitte found himself taking cover behind a car as shots were fired. The Metropolitan Police have since demanded that the local council permanently revoke the club’s license. According to police reports, the incident stemmed from a fight that escalated into multiple gunshots being fired by several individuals. Fortunately, no injuries were reported; however, several bullet casings were discovered at the scene.
A suspect has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and violent disorder.

On the night of the incident, a taxi driver alerted staff about a customer allegedly armed with a gun, yet they failed to contact law enforcement. This negligence was compounded by inadequate security protocols; patrons were allowed entry without thorough searches or proper identification checks.
The police emphasized that management’s failure to identify risks and ensure adequate security contributed significantly to the chaos outside.
The Metropolitan Police stated that it took club managers up to four days to report the possession of a firearm by one customer. Authorities expressed that timely communication could have potentially prevented the shooting that followed shortly after.
In light of these serious allegations, Ricco Lounge has voluntarily closed its doors since the incident. The owner, Chelsea Event & Entertainment Ltd., contends that many claims made by law enforcement are factually incorrect and plans to address these issues at an upcoming licensing meeting.
