The tragic death of 24-year-old Harshita Brella has left her family heartbroken. Ms. Brella, whose body was found in the boot of a car in Ilford, East London, on November 14, has become a symbol of the urgent issues surrounding domestic violence and the need for justice.
According to reports, Ms. Brella’s husband, Pankaj Lamba, 23, is currently regarded as the primary suspect in her death and is believed to have fled the country. Her family expressed their enduring love and grief, stating that she will remain in their hearts forever.
“Harshita left this world but she is still with us in our hearts,” her family shared. “We will never forget you till our last breath.”
The deep bond between Ms. Brella and her sister was evident as they reflected on their inseparability. Her sister described her as an integral part of her life, emphasizing how difficult it has become to navigate daily activities without her presence.
Prior to her death, Ms. Brella was issued a domestic violence protection order (DVPO) at Northampton Magistrates' Court in September, highlighting the serious concerns surrounding her safety. On November 13, Northamptonshire Police were called to her home due to welfare concerns but were unable to locate her at that time.
This prompted a missing persons investigation that tragically culminated in the discovery of her body just one day later. A post-mortem examination concluded that Ms. Brella died from strangulation, raising alarming questions about the circumstances leading to her death.
In response to this incident, police have released images of Mr. Lamba taken in Ilford and are actively seeking any information regarding his current whereabouts. A CCTV image from November 10 shows Ms. Brella walking with Mr. Lamba near Corby’s boating lake.
