Eva Longoria: A New Chapter Abroad

Hollywood actress Eva Longoria has recently disclosed a significant change in her family’s living situation. The Desperate Housewives star and her family have relocated from the United States, now splitting their time between Mexico and Spain. This decision stems from a desire to escape what she perceives as a deteriorating environment in the U.S., particularly following the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an interview with Marie Claire, Longoria expressed concerns about the “changing vibe” in the country, highlighting issues such as homelessness, high taxation in California, and the political climate following Donald Trump’s re-election.

Longoria noted her privilege in being able to make this move, reflecting on the struggles many Americans face. She candidly stated that most people are not as fortunate and may feel trapped in what she described as a “dystopian country.”

Political Engagement and Advocacy

Longoria has long been recognized as an influential figure within Democratic Party politics, especially for women and Latino communities. Since 2012, she has actively engaged with immigration policy and supported various Democratic candidates at both national and local levels. Her recent advocacy includes speaking at the Democratic National Convention and campaigning for Kamala Harris during this election cycle.

She adopted a Spanish translation of Barack Obama’s famous slogan “Yes, we can,” using it to promote Harris with the phrase “She se puede.”

Despite her efforts, Longoria expressed disappointment following Trump’s victory over Harris in the recent elections. She fears that if Trump maintains his promises, it could lead to a challenging future for many.

A New Life Abroad

Reflecting on her life in Los Angeles, Longoria acknowledged that her time there feels complete. As she transitions into this new chapter—with work commitments increasingly pulling her toward Europe and South America—she contemplates what lies ahead.

Originally a ninth-generation Texan, Longoria moved to California in her twenties. Her career took off when she earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Gabrielle Solis. Recently, she has hosted CNN’s mini-series Searching for Mexico and Searching for Spain.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Longoria shares a family life with her husband José “Pepe” Bastón, president of Mexican broadcaster Televisa. Together they have a six-year-old son named Santiago while Bastón has three children from a previous marriage.

As Longoria embarks on this new journey overseas, one can only wonder how her experiences will influence both her personal life and professional endeavors moving forward.
