Initially, it was reported that a train traveling from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth struck a stationary train en route from Machynlleth to Shrewsbury. However, recent updates from the Rail Accidents and Investigations Branch (RAIB) have clarified that both trains were indeed moving at the time of the crash.
