Leeds Bus Station's Odor Sparks Outrage Among Passengers
Transport officials have expressed their apologies to passengers regarding a “terrible” odor that has been affecting Leeds City Bus Station for nearly two weeks.
Transport officials have issued an apology to travelers due to an unpleasant odor that has been affecting Leeds City Bus Station for nearly two weeks. Employees at the station noted that the smell has been present for at least ten days, causing discomfort for many. One passenger, Scott, 29, shared that he has avoided taking his children into the bus station because of the “horrible” scent.
A representative from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), which oversees the bus station’s operations, informed the BBC that they are currently looking into the source of the odor. Onlookers noted that some passengers appeared visibly distressed when entering the station on Sunday.
Tobias Cannon, a 19-year-old student studying math and physics, traveled to Leeds from Manchester for work and remarked on the overpowering smell. “I walked in and was like, oh my days,” he said, comparing it to a fishy stench and expressing confusion about its origin. Another traveler described the odor as “terrible,” stating it resembled having cows in the building.
Has Samin, 32, reported a similar reaction after arriving in Leeds from London. He was taken aback by the strong smell upon disembarking from his coach. “It’s very bad, very bad,” he expressed. “I was confused because I have never smelt anything like that.”
The WYCA spokesperson expressed gratitude to the public for their understanding during this time. They assured passengers that their team is actively collaborating with partners and contractors to identify and resolve the issue affecting the station’s environment. The authorities are committed to rectifying this situation as soon as possible to restore a pleasant atmosphere for all who use the facility.
