Transport officials have expressed their apologies to passengers regarding a “terrible” odor that has been affecting Leeds City Bus Station for nearly two weeks. Employees at the terminal in the city center reported that the unpleasant smell has been present for at least ten days. One passenger, Scott, 29, mentioned that he no longer brings his children into the bus station due to the “horrible” stench.

A representative from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), which oversees the bus station’s operations, informed the BBC that they are currently investigating the source of the odor. Onlookers noted that some passengers appeared visibly troubled upon entering the facility on Sunday.

Tobias Cannon, a 19-year-old student studying maths and physics, traveled from Manchester to Leeds for work and remarked on how overwhelming the smell was. “I walked in and was like, oh my days,” he said, describing it as reminiscent of fish. He expressed confusion about its origin.

Another traveler characterized the smell as “terrible,” stating, “It smells like there are cows in there.” Has Samin, 32, shared his astonishment at the odor after disembarking from a coach arriving from London. He described it as “very bad” and noted that he had never encountered anything quite like it before.

The WYCA spokesperson thanked the public for their understanding during this issue and assured them that their team is collaborating with partners and contractors to determine the cause of the unpleasant smell. They are working diligently to resolve this matter as quickly as possible for everyone using the station.
