A man who found himself stranded in the Irish Sea after his small boat malfunctioned managed to reach Ireland and made his way to the nearest police station. Chris Ellery, a 54-year-old from Bristol, was reported to be “tired but okay,” according to HM Coastguard. He had embarked on a solo boating excursion from Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, on Thursday but did not return, prompting an extensive search operation.

His daughter Kenzie took to social media to appeal for assistance and announced on Saturday that her father had been located. She shared on Facebook, “My dad is alive; he has been found in Ireland.”

Coastguards based in Milford Haven revealed that Mr. Ellery’s attempt to cross the Irish Sea had resulted in a breakdown, leaving him without any means of communication. He successfully made it to the shores of County Wicklow and then proceeded to the local police station for help. Officers from the Garda (Irish police) confirmed his safety and well-being to the coastguards.

In the meantime, HM Coastguard had resumed their search efforts on Saturday, deploying an aircraft alongside multiple RNLI boat crews, two coastguard teams, and local police across areas including north Pembrokeshire, Cardigan Bay, and St Brides Bay.

In another incident in Pembrokeshire, a man is currently hospitalized with serious injuries following an assault. A 20-year-old has sustained potentially life-threatening harm as a result of this serious attack, according to police reports.
