Erik ten Hag boasts a win rate of 54.6%, making it the second highest for any Manchester United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down, trailing only Jose Mourinho’s 58.3%. Following his dismissal on Monday after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League, Ten Hag expressed his heartfelt wishes for success and glory to the Manchester United fans.

The 54-year-old coach was relieved of his duties after a disappointing start to the current season, leaving the team positioned at 14th in the league standings after nine matches. In his place, Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim has been appointed as the permanent head coach.

In a statement released by his representatives, Ten Hag thanked the supporters for their unwavering backing, highlighting their presence during challenging matches both at home and away. He praised the vibrant atmosphere at Old Trafford, attributing it to the fans' dedication and enthusiasm. Ten Hag also extended his gratitude to the club staff for their constant support during both prosperous and difficult times.

Taking over in the summer of 2022, Ten Hag ended a six-year trophy drought for Manchester United by clinching the Carabao Cup in his inaugural season while securing a third-place finish in the Premier League. He guided the club to an FA Cup final victory against rivals Manchester City in May; however, despite these achievements, United’s league performance fell short as they finished eighth.

Reflecting on his tenure, Ten Hag cherished the two trophies won during his time at the club but lamented that he could not add more silverware to United’s collection. He expressed appreciation for feeling at home within the club and thanked everyone involved for their warmth and support throughout his period there.

Amorim, aged 39, will take charge of Manchester United starting November 11 on a contract running through June 2027. Former player Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to manage the team on an interim basis for their next three matches following Ten Hag’s exit.

As Manchester United embarks on this new chapter with Amorim at the helm, there is hope among fans for a resurgence in form and success on multiple fronts moving forward.
