A 13-year-old girl has been attacked with a knife, prompting the arrest of six teenagers on charges related to attempted murder. Authorities from Humberside Police reported that the victim was discovered alongside the A63 dual carriageway in Hessle around 7:00 AM GMT. She sustained severe lacerations to her neck, chest, and abdomen, with her condition described as critical and life-threatening.
The arrests occurred shortly after the incident when four boys, aged 14, 15, 16, and 17, along with two girls aged 14 and 15, were apprehended in a nearby wooded area. Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers indicated that it is believed the assailants had prior knowledge of the victim. He acknowledged that this violent event would understandably incite fear within the local community and assured residents that police are actively investigating. “We have six individuals in custody who are currently being interrogated by investigators,” he stated.
Det Supt Vickers expressed gratitude to those who provided assistance to the injured girl before emergency services arrived at the scene. Searches were conducted around the Hull Humber View Hotel in North Ferriby, close to Hessle, as part of the investigation. The police have urged anyone with relevant information or dashcam and CCTV footage to come forward.
A cordon has been established around the wooded area adjacent to Ferriby High Road while investigations continued into the evening hours. As night fell over North Ferriby, a contingent of approximately 12 officers remained engaged in searches of land adjacent to the A63 until about 6:00 PM GMT. The search area consists of busy roads interspersed with pockets of woodland, extending from fields near the railway line into surrounding forested areas.
Officers utilized the Hull Humber View Hotel as a temporary operational base throughout a day marked by intensive searching following reports of the stabbing incident nearly twelve hours earlier. This case has raised significant alarm in the community as inquiries continue regarding both the nature of the attack and its circumstances.
