Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting Lisbon, has indicated that more information regarding his potential move to Manchester United is anticipated soon. Following Sporting’s match against Estrela on Friday, he is expected to continue leading the Portuguese team until at least the upcoming international break from November 11 to 19. There is still uncertainty surrounding whether a deal has been finalized for Amorim to become the new manager at Old Trafford after Erik ten Hag was dismissed earlier this week.

Amorim, who is 39 years old, acknowledged the complexities involved in negotiations between clubs. Despite reports from United board member Sir Dave Brailsford claiming “it’s done” while attending an EFL Cup victory over Leicester, Sporting officials assert that no official agreement is in place and discussions are ongoing. Manchester United has opted not to comment on the situation.

Amorim mentioned that even with the existing clauses in negotiations, clarity will be established after their match. He expressed that a decision would be made soon after Friday’s game, as Sporting prepares for significant upcoming fixtures, including a Champions League clash with Manchester City and a league match against Braga.

Since taking over in March 2020, Amorim has led Sporting to an impressive start this season, winning all nine of their league matches and securing a three-point lead over Benfica. However, he admitted that the speculation regarding his future has affected his players' performance. Amorim noted their visible nervousness and anxiety as they face a challenging schedule ahead.

As he concluded his press conference, Amorim was asked about his feelings towards the Premier League and responded enthusiastically. Financial regulations require Sporting to notify the Lisbon Stock Exchange if an agreement regarding his departure is reached.

Meanwhile, Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped into the role of interim manager at Manchester United and mentioned that he was informed his tenure would be short-lived. He expressed his commitment to leading the team effectively during this transitional phase while reflecting on conversations with Ten Hag and Sir Alex Ferguson about his new position.

Following their match against Chelsea on Sunday, United will face PAOK in the Europa League before taking on Leicester again in the league just before the international break. Van Nistelrooy remains committed to contributing positively to the club’s future during this uncertain time.
