A clown-themed performer was hospitalized after allegedly being assaulted with what was described as a “medical device” during a Halloween event. This incident occurred on Monday at the Ffear Fforest attraction at Zip World in Betws-y-Coed, Conwy county, which is promoted as the “ultimate scare fest” in North Wales by its organizers.
According to Zip World, the employee encountered a “potentially dangerous medical device,” although they refrained from confirming whether it was indeed a needle. North Wales Police responded to reports of an assault at the venue that same evening. They stated that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that there is no broader risk.
Organizers confirmed that the staff member was treated at a hospital and has since been discharged. A representative from Zip World commented that the individual, who was dressed as a clown as part of their entertainment role, received medical attention but has now returned home.
In light of the incident, security measures at the site were heightened. The venue temporarily closed during the police investigation but has since reopened to guests. Attendees reported feeling anxious following the alleged attack. Some noted that they were left waiting in darkness while police conducted thorough searches of vehicles for over two hours.
One attendee, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed concern about the situation: “There were many people asking questions and quite a bit of crying.” She and another participant, who spent approximately £30 on tickets, are uncertain if they will receive any refunds.
In relation to Halloween festivities, Dan Ellis created a costume inspired by a ventilation unit that contributed to delays in opening the arena. This initiative is part of broader efforts aimed at reducing anti-social behavior so that communities can enjoy Halloween and Bonfire Night in a safe environment.
Additionally, Derry’s renowned Halloween festival has an extensive four-day lineup of events scheduled for this week, promising to deliver plenty of excitement for attendees.
