Terrible airstrike in northern Gaza
An Israeli air strike at dawn hit northern Gaza, killing at least 66 people, including many women and children, and wounding over 100 individuals. Local sources, including Al Jazeera and the Palestinian agency Wafa, described the incident as a “horrific massacre.” Gaza’s Civil Defense forces reported that many people were still missing, making the situation even more dire.
Devastante raid a Gaza City
On the same day, a second attack took place in Gaza City, where 22 more people lost their lives. This raid hit a residential building in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, reducing it to rubble. Local authorities confirm the death toll and report that the situation is dire.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, said that most of the victims were in their homes at the time of the attack. He said the hospital is facing an unprecedented emergency: “We cannot handle the large number of injured and casualties,” he said, saying that staff are currently busy recovering bodies and rescuing people trapped under debris. The lack of ambulances is further complicating operations.
Rising Toll in Syria, Threats in the West Bank
In a tense regional context, it is reported that Israeli attacks against pro-Iranian groups in Palmyra, central Syria, have caused at least 68 deaths, including 42 fighters and 26 foreigners, mostly Iraqis belonging to the Al-Noujaba group.
In the West Bank, three Palestinians were arrested for plotting the assassination of far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. According to Israeli authorities, the main suspect had ties to Hezbollah and Hamas to obtain weapons and logistical support.
A look to the future
The situation in the Palestinian territories and surrounding areas continues to be volatile. With escalating violence and rising civilian casualties, it is crucial to monitor future developments. The international community is called upon to consider how to intervene to mitigate this growing humanitarian crisis.
