Hamas and the Ceasefire Call

Hamas has said it is ready to consider a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, urging Donald Trump to intervene to put pressure on Israel. This statement comes from Bassem Naim, a senior figure in the Palestinian Islamist movement, interviewed by France Presse.

Naim stressed that Hamas would accept a ceasefire agreement if Israel respected the terms of the proposal. He also called on the US administration to intervene to stop Israeli aggression in Gaza.

Donald Trump’s Role in the Ceasefire Plan

Recently, Donald Trump expressed his support for a ceasefire plan in Lebanon, after receiving detailed information from Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer. According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump expressed his hope that the plan would be implemented before he takes office in the Oval Office on January 20. The plan includes the withdrawal of Hezbollah troops and weapons from the border with Israel, located north of the Litani River. The Lebanese army and United Nations peacekeeping forces would be tasked with ensuring that there is no return of armed forces to that area.

Attacks and Destruction in Beirut

The situation in Beirut has worsened after an Israeli attack led to the collapse of a building in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital. Images released by local media showed the devastation caused by the explosion, with the structure literally disintegrating in a cloud of ash and soot. In addition to the collapse of the building, new attacks were reported this morning in the same area, accompanied by evacuation orders from the Israeli army. The IDF Arabic-language spokesperson warned residents of the Ghobeiry area about their proximity to Hezbollah-related installations. In addition, the Israeli Air Force intercepted two missiles coming from Lebanon before they reached Israeli territory, the IDF announced through its official channels.

An Uncertain Future

The rising tension between Hamas and Israel, along with recent regional dynamics, raises questions about the future of peace in the Middle East. With US elections looming and a volatile situation in Lebanon and Gaza, developments in the coming months will be crucial to the stability of the region.
