Israeli attack: Iran nuclear research center destroyed
On October 26, an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) strike targeted a nuclear research facility in Iran, causing significant damage to one of the country’s most secretive facilities. According to U.S. and Israeli officials, the operation took place at the Parchin base, located near Tehran, and destroyed a center dedicated to the development of nuclear weapons technologies.
Attack Details
Sources say the site had previously been declared inactive by Iran. However, the attack has undermined Iran’s recent efforts to resume research into military nuclear energy. In particular, the strikes damaged advanced equipment designed to create plastic explosives used to trigger nuclear reactions.
Israeli and U.S. officials have stressed that the operation has had a significant impact on the progress Iran has made over the past year.
Another facility targeted in the attack was Taleghan 2, part of the Parchin military complex. This facility was associated with Iran’s Amad nuclear program, which was suspended in 2003. High-resolution satellite imagery from the Institute for Science and International Security showed Taleghan 2 completely destroyed.
Iran’s reaction
In response to these operations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons, thus trying to downplay international concerns. However, the international community continues to closely monitor developments in Iran’s nuclear program and military actions in the region.
With rising tensions between Iran and Israel and ongoing debate over the nuclear issue, the events of October 26 represent only part of a long history of geopolitical conflicts.
In an increasingly complex global context, it will be essential to carefully monitor future developments regarding the Iranian nuclear program and the responses of regional and international powers.
