Positive start for Piazza Affari
Today saw a favorable start for Piazza Affari, with significant gains for some of the main Italian banks. In particular, MPS recorded an increase of 11% and Banco BPM of 4.3%. These results were boosted by the recent placement by the Treasury of a 15% stake in MPS, which saw Banco and Anima acquire 5% and 3% of the shares respectively.
The Ftse Mib showed a growth of 0.46%, supported by other banks such as Popolare di Sondrio (+2.2%) and Bper (+1.4%). Saipem also performed well with an increase of 1%, thanks to a contract worth 1.9 billion dollars. Eni shares rose by 0.8%, while A2A and Unicredit advanced by 0.7% each.
However, not all stocks followed the positive trend: Interpump fell by 2.1%, followed by Iveco (-1.8%), Erg (-1.3%) and Nexi (-1.3%). Tim showed stability with a modest increase of 0.1%, after publishing its nine-month results.
European stock markets are experiencing a cautious rise; while London is struggling to maintain parity (-0.1%), Frankfurt is gaining 0.6%, Milan 0.3% and Paris 0.2%. Investors are awaiting important economic data such as the final Eurozone GDP data and the ECB minutes. In the United States, communications on producer prices and unemployment benefits are expected.
Future prospects
In this positive market context, there were also notable performances in other European stock exchanges: Siemens rose by 7% and Burberry by 13%, both after reporting better-than-expected results. Asml maintains a promising outlook for revenues to 2030 thanks to the growing demand related to artificial intelligence.
At Piazza Affari, the yield on government bonds remains stable: the BTP gains one basis point, reaching 3.61%, while the spread with the Bund drops to 122. In the raw materials market, oil shows a slight increase (+0.1%) reaching 72.42 dollars, while gas futures in Europe show a rise of 3.5%, reaching 45.2 euros.
