The Valencian Community is facing a new wave of bad weather, with more than fifty municipalities affected by heavy rains. Weather forecasts indicate significant accumulations, with the possibility of 40 liters per square meter in one hour and 120 liters in 12 hours. Several municipalities such as Chiva, Aldaia, Paiporta, L’Alculdia, Torrent and Algemesi, already severely damaged by the floods of recent weeks, have closed their educational centers. Half a dozen municipalities in the Castellón region have also adopted similar measures. In the province of Alicante, several municipalities have already suspended classes.
Local governments are taking preventive measures due to the risk of flooding. The Generalitat has reported that in southern Catalonia restrictions have been activated in the districts of Baix Camp, Baix Ebre, Montsià, Ribera d’Ebre and Terragones.
In these districts, circulation is limited to essential services and travel for urgent reasons. Here too, school and sports activities are expected to be suspended for the following day.
