Parma’s First Away Victory: A Hard-Fought Success

Parma scored their first away win of the championship, a significant achievement after their only previous home win against Milan. In an intense and hard-fought match, the dukes showed resilience, coming back against Venezia who, despite their chances, proved to be less than concrete in the offensive phase. The final result was 2-1 in favor of Parma.

A Difficult Start and the Comeback

The match started uphill for Parma: already in the 5th minute, Venezia took the lead thanks to a nice move by Oristanio, who served Nicolussi Caviglia. The latter, with a precise left-footed shot, found the bottom corner of the net. However, Parma did not lose heart and found the equalizer in the 15th minute, with the first shot towards the opponent’s goal. A short corner surprised the lagoon defense and Valeri kicked powerfully from the edge, beating Stankovic. Despite the difficulties related to the position in the standings, both teams played with great intensity. Venezia could have regained the lead in the 35th minute, but Suzuki saved a close-range attempt by Haps.

Strategic Changes and the Winning Goal

In the second half, Di Francesco made a strategic change, replacing Ellertsson with Zampano. Pecchia responded with Charpentier for Benedyczak. The pace of the game slowed, reflecting the importance of the final result. In the 24th minute of the second half, Venezia had two good chances to score, but failed to convert. The turning point came on the counterattack: Sohm served Man who hit the ball; Stankovic failed to hold the shot and Bonny, who had just come on, took advantage of it to score from close range. Di Francesco continued to push forward by bringing on Yeboah, Gytkjaer and Carboni to try to increase the lead. Despite some dangerous crosses, Pohjanpalo failed to find the back of the net. With this historic victory away from the Tardini, Parma aims to build on this success to climb the standings; in the meantime, Venezia remains relegated to last place. The season is still long and the challenges are many; the future could hold further surprises for both teams.
