Escalation of the Conflict in Gaza: New Casualties and Military Operations
The situation in the Gaza Strip continues to deteriorate, with new attacks pushing up the death toll. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, eight Palestinians were killed today during Israeli shelling, particularly in the Nuseirat refugee camp and the Tabat Zare area, east of Rafah.
International Condemnation and the Role of UNRWA
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, has expressed support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Iravani condemned the recent decision by the Israeli Knesset to ban the agency’s operations, stressing:
“UNRWA is the only source of humanitarian assistance for Palestine refugees and its interruption is a direct attack on human rights. The denial of essential services such as education and healthcare cannot be tolerated.”
Iravani’s words come at a critical time, as the humanitarian crisis in the region continues to worsen.
Israel’s Territorial Operations: IDF Intensifies Attacks
In the past few hours, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) has expanded its operations in Beit Lahia, a town in the northern Gaza Strip. According to the Times of Israel, this intervention was justified by new intelligence information regarding Hamas members in the area. An estimated 3,000 Palestinians live in Beit Lahia. The Israeli military said it is ensuring safe evacuation routes for civilians while it continues operations against Hamas.
In a review of recent actions, the IDF reported that approximately 50 terrorists were killed in Jabalia during intense clashes.
Air Strikes and Military Targets
The Israeli Air Force intensified its bombing, hitting over 110 terrorist targets associated with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip over the past day. Among them, approximately 20 targets located in the Baalbek area were destroyed, eliminating approximately 60 Hezbollah members.
The IDF said one of the targets included a launcher used to attack central Israel, along with weapons depots and terrorist infrastructure.
With the situation constantly evolving, it is crucial to stay updated on developments in the conflict. Tensions between Israeli forces and Palestinian militant groups appear far from being resolved, raising concerns about a possible further escalation in the coming days.
