The Call to Social Revolt by Maurizio Landini

The secretary of the Cgil, Maurizio Landini, has launched a strong and clear appeal for a social revolt, underlining the need to address the economic and social difficulties that afflict the country. During the national assembly of delegates in Milan, he declared that it is no longer possible to continue on this path.

“Politics must deal with people’s living and working conditions,” Landini said, highlighting how the union is working to change the budget law. According to him, it is essential that issues such as salary, health and stability return to the center of the political agenda. The union action is not limited to immediate demands; Landini said that the general strike scheduled for November 29 is only the beginning of a broader mobilization. His goal goes beyond simply changing the budget law: he wants radical change to improve the country.

Workers' Rights and Referendum

Landini stressed the importance of workers' rights, suggesting the use of referendums as a tool to ensure greater social protection. He stated that “to defend the freedom of existence of those who work, it is essential to guarantee adequate rights”. In a broader context, Landini also commented on Donald Trump’s recent victory in the US presidential elections. According to him, this result reflects a deep anger among the people, fueled by a deterioration in living conditions and demands for change with respect to international conflicts.

Europe and Economic Policies

The secretary of the CGIL expressed concern about Europe’s position in the global landscape. He questioned the effectiveness of the tariff policies proposed by the United States, observing that “with duties you don’t get anywhere”. Landini warned that the lack of European unity could represent a significant problem in an increasingly competitive international context. Looking to the future, Landini’s message is clear: it is necessary to join forces to address the current economic and social challenges. The union’s mobilization could be just the first step towards a real and lasting change in the country’s political and economic system.
