The episode of school violence in Santa Maria delle Mole
A serious episode of violence occurred today in the courtyard of a school in Santa Maria delle Mole, on the outskirts of Rome. A 12-year-old girl stabbed a classmate, claiming that he had “snitched” on her about a homework assignment.
Reasons behind the attack
According to initial reports, the attack occurred after the boy reported to a teacher that he had seen the girl copying. However, investigators are investigating the matter to understand if there are other motives behind this extreme gesture.
After the incident, the girl ran away, but contacted 112 in tears, reporting the incident. The Carabinieri of the Santa Maria delle Mole station subsequently seized the kitchen knife used in the attack, which had a blade 10 centimeters long.
Condition of the injured
The attacked classmate was rushed to the Bambino Gesù pediatric hospital in Rome. Fortunately, his condition is not serious, but he suffered injuries to his hand and chest. The principal and school staff intervened immediately to provide first aid to the boy.
This incident raises important questions about youth violence and the school environment in which such incidents can occur. It is essential that preventative measures are put in place to avoid similar situations in the future and ensure a safe environment for all students.
