David Bowie Center: A Tribute to the Legend

**The David Bowie Centre, a permanent archive dedicated to the immortal rock star, cultural icon and advocate of reinvention, will open in London on 13 September 2025. This extraordinary project will be housed within the Victoria and Albert Museum, which previously hosted the exhibition “David is” in 2013, which attracted millions of visitors worldwide.

A Project Made Possible

The David Bowie Centre has been made possible by the David Bowie Estate, with the support of Warner Music Group and a generous donation from the Blavatnik Family Foundation. The centre will be located in the V&A East Storehouse, a new part of the museum opening in east London in March.

A Unique Exhibition

The David Bowie Center’s permanent exhibition will feature over 90,000 items selected to trace the artist’s creative process. Items on display include:

  • Bowie Memorabilia and Music
  • Personal photos and letters
  • Musical instruments
  • Autographed lyrics of famous songs such as Heroes and Fame, some of which were written using the “cut up” method, a technique Bowie learned from the writer William Burroughs.

Among the most representative pieces are the iconic costumes that have marked the artist’s various stylistic transformations, from the glam of Ziggy Stardust to the lunar clown of Ashes to Ashes, up to the elegant tailored suit of the White Duke and the overcoat with the Union Jack created by Alexander McQueen worn in the 90s.

“The David Bowie Center will be a lasting tribute to one of the most influential artists of our time.”

A Lasting Cultural Impact

The David Bowie Center is not just an archive, but a journey through the history of music and pop culture. Its opening will mark a major step forward in recognizing Bowie’s artistic legacy, offering fans and visitors a unique opportunity to explore the creative universe of one of the greatest artists of our time.
