Inter wins against Venezia: a thrilling ending
Inter struggles more than expected, but manages to beat Venezia and gets closer to Napoli in the standings, moving to -1 from the Neapolitans. Lautaro Martinez’s decisive goal marks an important victory, despite a thriller ending. The Argentine captain returns to score at San Siro after eight months, giving his team three fundamental points.
A match full of emotions
Inter started with determination, with Lautaro immediately creating danger. The first attempt came from a right-foot volley assisted by Dumfries, which ended just wide. The chances came one after the other, but the Nerazzurri forwards, like Barella and Thuram, wasted several opportunities.
The Nerazzurri team, however, shows a certain vulnerability in defense. In fact, Idzes manages to travel 40 meters undisturbed before serving Pohjanpalo, who fails to convert the opportunity. The latter kicks at Sommer from a favorable position.
In the second half, the situation changes with the entry of Busio in Venezia. The lagoon team increases the pace and almost scores with Oristanio, but Bastoni intervenes in extremis. Inter finally manages to break the deadlock thanks to Dimarco’s left-footed shot that serves Lautaro for the winning header.
“A goal that weighs”, underlines the importance of the Argentine captain’s goal.
An uncertain ending
After the 1-0 goal, Thuram has the chance to double the score but kicks at Stankovic. In the end, the tension increases when Sverko equalizes in the last second of the seven minutes of added time, but the VAR disallows the goal for a handball.
Inter thus takes home the three points and prepares to face a crucial week: first the challenge against Arsenal in the Champions League and then the direct clash against Napoli. The victory against Venezia is an important signal for the team in view of future commitments.
