Qualifying took place in difficult weather, after a postponement due to heavy rain that hit the Interlagos circuit. This situation led to numerous interruptions during qualifying sessions.

Due to adverse weather conditions, the start of the Grand Prix was brought forward to 16:30 Italian time, compared to the 18:00 initially planned.
