Kamala Harris overtakes Donald Trump in Iowa, according to the latest poll by the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa. The vice president gets 47% of the vote, while the former president stands at 44%. This result is surprising, considering that both candidates had neglected the state, believing it was already in Republican hands.
“Every cycle, there’s an idiot poll,” said Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, responding to questions about the results.
Donald Trump’s campaign has been skeptical of the poll. Miller has said the new reading is a “clear outlier.” They also cited another Emerson College poll, released the same day, that they claim is a more accurate reflection of Iowa’s electorate. At a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, Trump highlighted the large turnout at his recent event in Iowa in an attempt to discredit the poll.
