A Coup Planned Down to the Smallest Detail

A major theft took place last night at a logistics warehouse of the multinational DHL in Monticelli d’Ongina, in the province of Piacenza. According to estimates, around ten people took part in the operation, which took away electronic and hi-tech material with a value potentially close to one million euros.

Theft Execution Method

The methods used by the thieves show a high level of criminal depth and preparation. To slow down the intervention of the police, the bandits blocked all access routes to the logistics hub. They placed cars and vans on fire and scattered three-pointed nails on the asphalt, making it difficult for patrols to pass. The investigations are currently being conducted by the Carabinieri of the Fiorenzuola d’Arda Company and the Piacenza investigative unit. They are looking for clues that could lead to the thieves, who have now disappeared with the loot. They are also investigating a possible baseman who may have provided information to the gang.

The Night Operation

The robbery took place in the middle of the night, blocking at least three roads around the DHL warehouse. The bandits scattered nails on the asphalt and set fire to stolen vehicles, creating a barrier of flames and iron. Another team then broke through the bars at the entrance, holding the security guards at gunpoint. Once inside, the thieves aimed directly at the vehicles and shelves containing the most valuable merchandise: cell phones, tablets and computers, probably intended to supply the shopping centres of the North for the Christmas period. While they were loading the stolen goods onto their vehicles ready to flee, the firefighters intervened together with the Carabinieri to put out the flames. The gang’s escape appears to have been planned through small country roads towards the border with Lombardy. It is likely that they disappeared after taking the A21 motorway. The Carabinieri immediately began collecting testimonies from the threatened personnel and seized the video surveillance footage to look for traces left by the thieves.
