Fiorentina continues to win

Fiorentina never stops. With the victory over Turin, the Viola club reaches its seventh consecutive victory between the league and Europe, positioning itself in third place in the standings, just three points behind leaders Napoli. A single goal from Kean is enough to defeat the Granata, who suffer their sixth defeat in the last seven games.

The tactical choices of Vanoli and Palladino

Granata coach Vanoli implements a half revolution in the players, while maintaining the three-man defense. Five changes compared to the trip to the Capital:

  • Walukiewicz takes over from Masina
  • Pedersen and Sosa act on the outside
  • Tameze and Vlasic join Ricci in midfield
  • The Sanabria-Adams tandem confirmed in attack, with the latter as captain On the other side, Palladino is banking on Kean as an advanced reference, supported by Colpani, Beltran and Sottil. The Richardson-Bove duo acts as a filter in front of the four-man defensive line.

Contestation and game dynamics

Torino president Cairo is present at the stadium while the fans' protest continues. After the macabre signs left at the Filadelfia in the previous days, the supporters' chants resound at the Grande Torino. This match is characterized by a strong twinning between the Granata and Viola fans. On the pitch, the teams start at a slow pace. The Granata try to make themselves seen with a shot from Adams that is deflected into a corner. At 17', Adams feels a muscle problem and is replaced by Njie. The match struggles to take off until 41', when Maripan makes a fatal mistake:

“Kean takes advantage and beats Milinkovic on the way out.” Maripan’s goal disallowed for offside sends the teams to half-time with Fiorentina in the lead, while the Granata are booed by the 23 thousand spectators present.

Thrilling ending

In the second half, the two coaches did not make any immediate changes. The Granata tried to react with Tameze and Sanabria, but without success. Vanoli tried to shake things up with Lazaro and Ilic; Palladino responded with Ikoné, Adli and Kouamé. Torino pushes hard on the right: Walukiewicz feeds Pedersen, whose right-footed shot hits the post. Shortly after, Mandragora enters the field and comes close to scoring, also hitting the post from a free kick. Despite a final push from the Granata with Karamoh, Sanabria and Njie, De Gea remains calm between the posts. Fiorentina celebrates, thus increasing their position in the standings. In the meantime, Toro is once again contested by the fans; now Vanoli hopes for positive news on Adams' conditions ahead of the derby against Juve.
