Fire in Kiev Russian drones cause injuries and massive damage

This morning, a residential building in Kiev was engulfed in flames after being hit by debris from a Russian drone shot down by the Ukrainian Air Force. The news was shared on Telegram by the mayor of the capital, Vitaly Klitschko, and the city’s military administration, known as Kmava. Klitschko said that the fire broke out in the Sviatoshyn district following the impact with fragments of the drone. The fire affected a 16-story apartment building, also damaging five cars. There are no reports of injuries or victims at this time.

The State Emergency Service later reported that the flames spread to an area of ​​50 square meters, causing damage to apartments located on the 15th and 16th floors of the building in question. Rescue teams intervened to evacuate the residents of the building, as reported by RBC-Ukraine.

Mayor Klitschko later updated the situation, confirming that at least one person was injured in the incident. “At the moment, one person has been injured in the Sviatoshyn district, where the fire broke out due to debris from the drone,” the mayor said. The man was treated by paramedics on site.

Fragments of Russian drones shot down overnight fell on three districts of the capital and also hit another apartment building in addition to the one where the fire broke out. According to the Kiev military administration, the debris also affected the Solomiansky and Dniprovsky districts. In a nine-story residential building in the latter district, a balcony caught fire over an area of ​​two square meters. There are currently no reports of injuries in this case.

The number of injured has risen to two following a drone strike by Russian forces on Kiev overnight. Klitschko confirmed that both individuals involved are in the Sviatoshyn district: one was hospitalized while the other was treated on site.
