With Election Day just days away, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are stepping up their campaign in the same state, Wisconsin, after having made stops in Arizona and Nevada, key territories for the election. The Democratic candidate is trying to gain ground by exploiting the support of celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Julia Roberts. On the other hand, Trump continues to follow his tried and tested strategy of raising the tone and adopting aggressive rhetoric, launching direct attacks on his rivals. A controversial episode occurred when he called Liz Cheney a “warmonger” who “should have guns pointed at her”, generating outrage and an immediate response from the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney. The Arizona Department of Justice has launched an investigation to verify whether his words could be interpreted as a death threat.

Liz Cheney responded to X, saying that such behavior is typical of dictators who threaten their opponents. She warned that the future of the country cannot be entrusted to a vindictive and unstable man like Trump. Her vice president, J.D. Vance, also made strong statements in an interview with Joe Rogan, saying that middle- and upper-class kids decide to become transgender to get into prestigious universities like Yale and Harvard. During the long conversation, he also expressed his belief that he can win votes from LGBTQ+ people who just want to be left alone, but attacked progressive women by accusing them of publicly celebrating abortions on social media. This statement also drew backlash from Rogan himself.

Meanwhile, the competition between Harris and Trump is getting fiercer in the swing states. The latest polls conducted by the Marist research center show a tight head-to-head in three of the seven key states: in Michigan Harris is at 52% while Trump is at 48%, while in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin the vice president is at 50% against the Republican’s 48%. Significant events will take place in Wisconsin: Trump will speak at the Fiserv Forum, home of the Republican convention scheduled for July, while Harris will hold a rally near Milwaukee with the participation of the latest star to join her campaign, Cardi B, after illustrious names such as Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez.
