The ninth edition of #ioleggoperché, an initiative dedicated to donating books to school libraries, will take place from November 9 to 17. This project, which aims to promote reading and strengthen libraries in schools, is organized by the Italian Publishers Association. The official presentation will take place today at 11:30 in the Sala Spadolini of the Ministry of Culture in Rome. The event will also be visible in live streaming on official channels, including the #ioleggoperché website and the Ministry’s YouTube channel.

The meeting will be moderated by Rai journalist Serena Bortone and will see the participation of important figures in the cultural sector. Speakers will include Innocenzo Cipolletta, president of AIE, and Renata Gorgani, vice president. Roberto Marti and Federico Mollicone, respectively presidents of the Culture and Education commissions in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, will also be present. In addition, Giovanni Azzone, president of the Cariplo Foundation, will make his contribution.

The event will also have the support of ambassadors of the project such as Sofia Goggia and Rudy Zerbi, together with students from the Itis G. Galilei and IC Elisa Scala schools in Rome. This initiative represents an important opportunity to raise public awareness on the importance of reading from a young age and on the value of school libraries in the educational process.

#ioleggoperché aims not only to collect books to donate, but also to involve local communities in creating an environment conducive to reading. Participating schools will have the opportunity to receive volumes through a network that includes publishers and booksellers, thus encouraging a virtuous circle that promotes the culture of the book.

The event promises to be full of interesting ideas and significant moments for all those who believe in the importance of reading as a tool for personal and cultural growth. Through collaboration between institutions, publishers and citizens, we seek to build a future in which school libraries can become increasingly central to the education of young readers. The campaign aims to increase the love of books among students, encouraging a new generation to discover the pleasure of reading.
