Novartis launched the “Partners for the Future” platform in 2023, an initiative aimed at reducing inequalities and ensuring equal and timely access to healthcare services for all citizens. The main objectives include promoting prevention, strengthening the training of professionals in the sector and creating new models of collaboration between the public and private sectors, with the aim of improving the efficiency and quality of healthcare.

This platform was developed by listening to the opinions of the younger generations and involving various actors in the health system, with the aim of identifying concrete actions for the evolution of the national health service. The action paper was presented in a meeting at the Chamber of Deputies, organized by the Honorable Annarita Patriarca, member of the XII Social Affairs Commission. Patriarca underlined the importance of working for a fair, sustainable and competitive health system, highlighting that cooperation between all actors in the sector is essential to ensure uniform and quality access to health services. She also emphasized the importance of prevention, diagnostics and training of new generations of professionals.

The document presents several proposals, such as the annual update of the essential levels of assistance (Lea) and the strengthening of prevention activities in the evaluation of the general directors of the Local Health Authorities and hospital companies. Valentino Confalone, president of Novartis Italia, stated that the company is committed to medical-scientific innovation and believes in the value of acting as a partner of the health system. He expressed the hope that this collaboration could promote equity in access to innovation, thus supporting the competitiveness of the Italian health service.

The platform was launched with the direct involvement of the new generations through six working tables that saw the participation of over 40 young people under 35 and a survey conducted on over 1,000 citizens regarding their opinions on future healthcare. Francesco Marchionni, councilor of the National Youth Council, emphasized that young people represent a fundamental resource for innovation in the country. He then highlighted the importance of their involvement in changes that affect fundamental rights such as the right to health. The National Youth Council immediately supported the initiative of the “Partner for the Future” platform to listen to the needs of young people regarding the healthcare of tomorrow.
