Lecce-Verona 1-0: THE REPORT
Lecce gets its second win in Serie A this season, reaching a total of eight points in the standings. This result allows the team to distance itself, at least temporarily, by two points from Genoa and by three from Venezia, which occupies the last position. For Hellas Verona, on the other hand, it is the seventh defeat in the championship, which keeps them in 14th place with nine points. The star of the day was Patrick Dorgu, author of the only goal.
In the 82nd minute, the situation gets complicated for Hellas with the expulsion of Belahyane. Already cautioned previously, the player commits a foul on Dorgu and, subsequently, makes rude remarks to the referee, thus receiving another yellow and the consequent red card for adding cautions. This is a serious mistake on his part.
Lecce took the lead in the 51st minute thanks to Dorgu. A cross from the left by Banda was not deflected by Coulibaly in the center of the area, but Dorgu was ready at the far post and scored with a header with a dive. Initially the goal was disallowed for offside, but VAR intervened and confirmed the validity of the goal.
Another expulsion arrives in the 40th minute: Tchatchoua is sent off for DOGSO after knocking down Dorgu who was heading towards the goal with no opponents between him and the goalkeeper Perilli. Lecce thus earns an interesting free kick.
There were also controversial moments in the first half for the hosts. In the 35th minute, a Lecce goal was disallowed for offside by Dorgu, who had intervened on Rafia’s shot. The involuntary deflection of an opponent did not restore his regular position according to the rules of the game.
Furthermore, in the 21st minute, Lecce had a goal disallowed during a corner from the left: Dorgu deflected the ball into the net with his shoulder and celebrated with his teammates, but the referee disallowed the goal due to a foul committed by Dorgu himself on Tchatchoua. Therefore, the score remained locked at 0-0 until the second half.
