Under the leadership of its new Secretary General Naim Qassem, Hezbollah has declared that it will continue to oppose Israel. This was according to an official statement issued by the Lebanese party, which announced the election of Qassem as the new leader of the Shiite movement. The statement said: “We will work together to achieve Hezbollah’s goals, keeping the flame of resistance alive and raising our flag until victory.”

Naim Qassem, 71, originally from southern Lebanon, has long been deputy secretary general of Hezbollah. The news of his appointment was reported by the al Manar television network, affiliated with the movement.

In a statement today, Mohammadreza Naghdi, deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, warned that Israel will face even more devastating attacks in the coming days. Naghdi said that the Zionists will be caught off guard by the blows and stressed that the people of Palestine and Lebanon have chosen an appropriate leadership and path, in contrast to Palestinian nationalist leaders who lack a realistic and religious vision. He concluded that this choice is a significant step that has put the United States in a difficult position.

Meanwhile, the Gaza Civil Defense said an Israeli airstrike killed more than 55 people in a residential building in Beit Lahia overnight. According to the agency’s spokesman, Mahmud Bassal, “more than 55 people were martyred and dozens of wounded are trapped under the rubble” of the building that was hit.

The Israeli Air Force said it had “eliminated dozens of terrorists” from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, striking about 110 terror-related targets. An Israeli military (IDF) statement, published on Telegram, said it also targeted weapons depots and infrastructure used in attacks on Israeli civilians.

In another development, the IDF reported the detection of a drone from Yemen in its airspace after warning sirens sounded in Ashkelon. The drone fell in an open area without causing any injuries.
