A large set of documents was found in a garage belonging to the secretary of Carmine Gallo, a former police officer now under house arrest as part of an investigation by the Milan District Anti-Mafia Directorate and the National Anti-Mafia Directorate. This archive contains analyses and reports relating to significant operations against organised crime, profiles of known mafiosi and other sensitive documents. The investigators, supported by technicians from the Carabinieri ROS, will proceed with an in-depth analysis of these materials, together with the computer devices of the group involved.

Pending the preliminary hearings scheduled for next Thursday with Judge Fabrizio Filice, which will concern Gallo and three other suspects, the public prosecutor Francesco De Tommasi has filed an appeal against the refusal of a series of precautionary measures. Among the charges, those aimed at Enrico Pazzali, owner of the investigative company Equalize, considered central to the illicit traffic of information that allegedly led to the theft of over 800,000 data in less than three years for an estimated profit of 3 million euros. Although not directly involved in the theft of the data, Pazzali is described as a key figure in the criminal organization.

The requests made by the Prosecutor’s Office emphasize that Pazzali allegedly used the company’s resources to obtain confidential information for personal purposes. The wiretaps revealed that he also sought data on the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa and other people who could have influenced his career. Furthermore, reference is made to an alleged cloned email account of President Sergio Mattarella.

Gallo himself spoke about the archive during the wiretaps, stating that he possessed thousands of personal files on individuals not necessarily linked to the Mafia. He described a vast database containing details of kidnappings from 1960 to the present. This material was stored in boxes in the secretary’s garage to avoid discovery by the authorities.

The research conducted by investigators aims to gather further evidence on the picture that emerged from the investigation, involving numerous witnesses linked to the alleged illegal network. Among those under investigation is Pierfrancesco Barletta, former vice president of Sea, under investigation for questionable practices related to the issuing of passports to people with criminal records. Gallo allegedly used these favors as merchandise to obtain personal benefits and various gifts from friends and clients.
