French actor Gérard Depardieu, accused of sexual harassment, will not be present on the first day of his trial, which is taking place today at the Paris court. He is defending himself against charges relating to the alleged abuse of two women during the filming of a film in 2021. Initially, it was said that the 75-year-old actor wanted to attend the hearing. However, his lawyer, Jérémie Assous, announced on Franceinfo radio that a request for a postponement had been made due to the actor’s health condition. Assous said: “Gérard Depardieu is in serious condition and doctors have advised him not to attend the hearing. He will therefore ask for a postponement so that he can attend in the future.” The lawyer also stressed the actor’s desire to be able to express his position on the charges against him. The hearing is scheduled for early afternoon.
