Giuli has claimed over the years to have distanced himself significantly from the neo-Nazi right. However, in some of his works and speeches there are elements that recall the influence of Julius Evola, a philosopher linked to Nazism and a leading figure in fascist mysticism of the 1930s. An example of this emerged during his speech at the Frankfurt International Book Fair, where he stated that “we must reaffirm the centrality of solar thought”. This speech did not surprise the program Report, which had previously revealed that Alessandro Giuli was responsible for the cultural program of the Lega led by Salvini in 2017.
Sigfrido Ranucci, host of Report, introduced the investigations concerning the Minister of Culture, examining Giuli’s role in drafting the Lega’s program for the elections won by the party in 2018. The document had been sent for approval to Armando Siri, considered an ideologue of the Lega on the flat tax and organizer of the party’s school. Siri also showed interest in esoteric themes: through his association Spazio Pin, he shared particular content in which he boasted of having founded a movement called Guerrieri della Luce and spoke of meetings with angels and dialogues with alleged aliens.
Ranucci points out that the program created by Giuli included significant symbols such as the sun of the Alps and mentioned “the soul of a people”, described as an immaterial force composed of the calcined bones of ancestors. These references have been judged by some experts as clearly esoteric. Cultural anthropologist Vito Teti has suggested that these concepts may have been inspired by the ideas of Evola and the Nazi tradition. The question therefore arises as to whether this really represents the deep and authentic culture proposed by Giuli.
