The Rome Film Fest also gave space to solidarity. On the last day, the red carpet saw the participation of extraordinary young people on the occasion of the presentation of the documentary “Fuori dai margini”, made by Save the Children. This film explores the experiences of girls and boys, as well as adolescents who live in disadvantaged and unserviced contexts throughout Italy, highlighting their ability to take control of their lives. Elodie, Ambassador of the Organization and godmother of the initiative, walked the catwalk together with Nicole, Samuel, Natasha, Alim and Alessandro, young people from the Punti Luce of the cities of Rome, Naples, Turin and L’Aquila. These young people represent the 55,000 minors that Save the Children has supported in their growth path with the aim of eliminating the barriers that hinder their dreams for a better future. Also present was Claudio Tesauro, President of the Organization that for over a century has been committed to protecting children at risk and guaranteeing them a future.
The documentary “Fuori dai margini” was produced to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Save the Children’s Punti Luce program. These educational spaces offer free training opportunities to girls, boys and teenagers. Elodie shared her emotions: “Being here today is really special for me; the stories of Nicole, Samuel, Natasha, Alim and Alessandro also reflect my personal experience. It is a great satisfaction to be able to be next to them and the President of the Organization for the preview of the documentary. These kids can teach us a lot thanks to the awareness acquired by those who have had the opportunity to change their future and have been able to seize it. Sometimes all it takes is a small opportunity or a person who believes in you to get out of the margins and face life.”
Claudio Tesauro added: “We are here at the Rome Film Fest with Save the Children and the kids from Punti Luce on the red carpet to present the documentary ‘Fuori dai margini’. Over the past ten years, we have supported over 55,000 minors through our Punti Luce. This is an ambitious project aimed at fighting educational poverty. Thanks to our network of local partners, we were able to see the faces of the kids involved; listening to their experiences, desires and aspirations has deeply affected us. We have met girls and boys full of resources, ready to tackle social and territorial inequalities.” These testimonies certainly deserve attention because they tell significant stories that can inspire many others in today’s society.
