The regional elections in Liguria will be held today from 7 am to 11 pm and tomorrow from 7 am to 3 pm. Due to the wave of bad weather that hit the region, some polling stations have been moved from risk areas. This decision was taken during a meeting between the four Ligurian Prefectures, the Regional Electoral Office, Arpal and the Regional Civil Protection, to address the issues related to the current weather alert. It has been confirmed that voting operations will take place normally, with polling stations that have opened regularly throughout Liguria. The Prefectures and Municipalities are carefully monitoring the situation in collaboration with the Region, Arpal and the Civil Protection, to ensure adequate security during the vote. In some cases, it was decided to move polling stations located in more vulnerable areas.

Ligurian voters called to cast their vote on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 October are 1,341,799, to elect the new president of the Liguria Region and the thirty members of the regional legislative assembly. This number marks an increase of 0.09% compared to those entitled to vote in the last elections in 2020, when they were 1,340,604; on that occasion, 716,211 voters were registered with a participation of 53.42%.

In the elections four years ago there were ten candidates for the presidency of the Region; the current president Giovanni Toti, supported by the entire center-right, was reconfirmed with 383,053 votes (56.13%). The candidate of the center-left-M5S without Italia Viva, Ferruccio Sansa, obtained 265,506 votes (38.90%), while no other candidate exceeded the 3% limit. Aristide Massardo was the third most voted with the support of Psi, +Europa and Italia Viva stopping at 2.42%.

In the current comparison compared to the past there have been changes in the parties: five lists supported the main alignments in 2020; now the center-right has reached seven lists while the progressive field has six. In the previous round, the Toti List was the most voted with 22.61% of the votes; followed by the Democratic Party-Article One (19.89%), Lega (17.14%), Fratelli d’Italia (10.87%), Movimento 5 Stelle (7.78%), Lista Sansa (7.14%), Forza Italia (5.27%) and others.

At the provincial level, voters are distributed as follows: Genoa has approximately 732,024 voters; Savona has registered approximately 243,962; La Spezia has approximately 186,813 and Imperia has approximately 179,000 registered voters.
