From digital narratives to innovative robotic exoskeletons, technology is transforming even pigeons into environmental sentinels of cities. Maker Faire Rome returns as a consolidated event where creativity and technology intertwine to give life to original inventions and projects. Until October 27, the Gazometro Ostiense in Rome will host 350 exhibition spaces ranging from agritech to the metaverse, without forgetting robotics and digital manufacturing. Lorenzo Tagliavanti, president of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, emphasizes that Maker Faire is not just an event, but an inclusive platform that promotes innovation through exchanges and collaborations.

Inside the event, you can immerse yourself in the most advanced research in the field of robotics, such as the FoamEvo exoskeleton developed by the Italian Institute of Technology or the intelligent tractor designed by Inail to reduce accidents at work. Alongside these cutting-edge innovations, there are also more artisanal creations full of creativity. An example is represented by the stands dedicated to games and education, where famous video games such as Minecraft are used as teaching tools. Furthermore, Gianni Rodari’s stories find new life thanks to imagination and the Arduino board, one of the favorite tools of makers.

This twelfth edition takes place in a suggestive context such as the Gazometro, a symbol of Roman industrial archaeology. Over the years, Maker Faire has contributed to the growth of new inventors; among these is Lorenzo Franceschelli, a twenty-one-year-old who, after eight years as a visitor, this year participates as a maker presenting Automathaus, a platform designed to simplify home automation.

In just a few steps you can find yourself in contact with international experts in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence from countries such as Japan and Germany or from MIT in Boston. These specialists come together at Maker Faire thanks to the I-Rim network.

Numerous projects are dedicated to the environment and the relationship between man and nature; one of the most interesting is Aria, an initiative that involves the release of pigeons equipped with sensors to monitor the urban environment. This project is the result of the collaboration between Biolab3, the University of Roma Tre, the National Research Council and the University of Foro Italico and is aimed at both raising public awareness and monitoring the levels of pollutants in the air such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

Maker Faire Rome is therefore an important showcase for technological innovation and individual creativity. The event aims not only to be a meeting place for industry experts but also to stimulate young inventors who want to share their ideas with a wider audience. With initiatives dedicated to education through play and cutting-edge environmental projects, Maker Faire continues to be a point of reference for anyone who wants to explore the potential offered by modern technology.
