A social media game turned into a case of extortion against a young man. A 30-year-old foreign woman ended up in trouble after being reported by the Carabinieri of Fontanellato, in the province of Parma, for threatening a 15-year-old boy to pay her money so as not to publish compromising images that could damage her reputation.

The story began when the boy began communicating online with a girl he met through social media. As time went by, the conversation became more and more intimate and led to the exchange of sexually charged photos. From that moment on, the woman’s attitude changed dramatically: she began making threats against the young man. The initial demands amounted to 50 euros, but the amount soon increased to 500 euros.

Concerned about the situation, the boy decided to talk to his parents. The latter, alerted by the circumstances, advised him not to send further sums to the woman and filed a complaint with the competent authorities. Thanks to the information provided by the minor, the investigators were able to trace the identity of the woman behind the fake profile used to contact him.

The Carabinieri cross-referenced data provided by telephone companies and banks to gather additional evidence against the thirty-year-old. Following these in-depth investigations, the individual was reported for extortion. This situation highlights the risks associated with online interactions and the importance of communication between parents and children regarding internet safety.
